AirAsia Launches Facial Recognition System at Senai International Airport

Now all you'd need to board the plane is your pretty face.

AirAsia passengers flying via Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru, can look forward to experiencing FACES (Fast Airport Clearance Experience System) for themselves. Launched early last month, FACES is essentially a facial recognition system that allows enrolled passengers a seamless experience from check-in to boarding.

To be able to use FACES, guests will need to sign up at the dedicated enrolment kiosk situated at the check-in kiosks area at Senai International Airport. The enrolment process is simple. Guests need to place their MyKad or chip-enabled passport in the document reader and look at the camera to create their biometric token. Only guests above 18 years old may enrol. It is a one-time process, and guests can then use AirAsia’s biometric gates for all flights so long as their identity document is valid. Once the identity document expires, guests will need to update their enrolment with a new valid document.
